THE PRO LOCO ORGANIZES “JUVENATIUM, A.D. 1187”

It was the year 1187 when the Sultan of Egypt and Syria, defeating the Crusader armies, captured Jerusalem.

Legend has it that the French captain Geretéo, in gratitude for the care he received, donated to the parish priest of the village of Giovinazzo a painting of the Virgin Mary that he had managed to rescue from the Muslims.

This is one of the two episodes reenacted in the Historical Parade that the Pro Loco, in collaboration with the association Stupor Mundi – Historia Magistra Vitae and the Gruppo Archeo Brindisi, is organizing for Saturday, August 19th.

On August 6th, during the “Night of the Artists,” educational stalls were set up where reenactors guided visitors through the discovery of a fascinating historical period that scholars have been re-evaluating for some time.

Medieval music will accompany the exploration.

The comics created represent pieces of our city’s history. This project aims straight at the heart of promoting and deepening knowledge of the territory, developing in young people a sense of belonging and education in heritage.
