Giovinazzo Celebrates the 56th Edition of the Historical Parade

The Historical Parade organized by the Pro Loco of Giovinazzo has written a new chapter in its long history, renewing a tradition that for over half a century has accompanied the Patronal Feast in honor of Our Lady of Corsignano. The 56th edition once again moved the numerous spectators, who came not only from the town itself but also from many neighboring areas, confirming the deep bond that this re-enactment maintains with the community and Marian devotion.

The departure from Palazzo Ducale, the heart of the historic center, marked the beginning of the itinerant performance, which then reached Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II for the gathering of participants before proceeding along the main streets of the town. In Piazza Sant’Agostino came the first moment of great charm: the performance of the Gruppo Nzegna from Carovigno, repeated again at the end of the route. Closing the parade were the strength and precision of the Flag-Wavers and Musicians of Capurso, protagonists of spectacular choreographies and captivating rhythms.

The return to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II was met with the enthusiasm of the crowd: ladies, knights, and especially the youngest participants offered a moving and engaging picture, retracing the key stages of Marian devotion in Giovinazzo. Thus, the Historical Parade reaffirms itself not only as a much-anticipated summer event in Giovinazzo, but also as an intangible cultural treasure of great value for the town, carefully preserved by the Pro Loco of Giovinazzo and made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Patronal Feast Committee.

The event concluded with the blessing imparted by Father Giovanni from the steps of San Domenico, in the presence of thousands of faithful gathered in prayer: a solemn moment that sealed the union between historical memory, faith, and civic identity.
